Ancora seeks treble (soprano and alto) singers who can demonstrate versatility and ease of control in vocal tone, style, and tessitura (texture), including use of straight tone, vibrato, and bright and dark qualities.

Our Upcoming Season

Two major concerts are scheduled for our upcoming 2023-2024 season: “Circles of Joy” on January 27, 2024, celebrating 20 years of Ancora, and “Viriditas" on June 15, 2024, celebrating the greening of our world.

Rehearsals

We rehearse weekly on Thursday nights from 7:15 to 9:15pm at 7400 Woodlawn in Seattle.

Policies

Ancora members are responsible for paying tuition ($40/month), volunteering in opportunities to support the organization, and maintaining consistent attendance at rehearsals. All participants must be fully vaccinated against COVID, including a booster.

Ancora welcomes all treble-voiced singers 18 years and older who are committed to exploring music for women's voices. We embrace diversity and encourage all soprano-alto range singers who identify as female, nonbinary, or any gender to schedule an audition with us.

Audition Criteria

Auditionees will be asked to do the following:

Vocalizing to assess range and properties of voice
Ear training/testing
Intervals
Identification of key signatures, notations, and symbols
Interpreting 2 pieces that will be provided by us
Grasping pronunciation of different languages
