Our Mission
Ancora's mission is to forge deep connections through music, uniting musical excellence and friendship.
We are a treble choir (soprano and alto voices). Singers who are on the spectrum of gender, including those who identify as transgender, agender, non-binary, or are questioning their gender, are welcome to audition to join us.

Ancora strongly believes in diversity and complies with all local, county, state, and federal anti-discrimination laws.
Membership is open to all singers age 18 and over who subscribe to the purpose of the organization and meet the audition requirements set forth by the same without regard to race, ethnicity, color, creed, age, religion, sexual orientation, political affiliation, disability, national origin, marital, relationship or parental status. Contracted and volunteer positions are open without regard to gender.
We believe that finances should never be a barrier to your participation in the arts. Please contact us to discuss scholarship options.
Today, Ancora performs outstanding choral music through a challenging program of rehearsals and concerts and enriches the arts community by sharing exquisite music for treble voices with the public.

Our History
Our History
One evening in May 2004, a handful of Seattle Girls’ Choir alumnae gathered at Wallingford Presbyterian Church. Their purpose: to rekindle the camaraderie and pure joy of singing exquisite music for women’s voices they had experienced as choristers in the Seattle Girls’ Choir.
As rehearsals continued, various members took the helm directing old songs for which they still had their music. In August 2004, they formed a three-member Board of Directors; in October, an artistic director was hired; and in 2005, section 501(c)3 nonprofit status was granted by the IRS. Ancora was officially born.
