Join Ancora for our December concert of music written for the winter season, including the eponymous Winter Peace by Pacific Northwest composer Donald Skirvin. Other meditative works on this concert include Edward Elgar’s The Snow and Don MacDonald’s Winter Sun.
Lest we leave you without some holiday cheer, this concert will also feature PNW composer Laurie DeLeonne’s Winter Suite, in an arrangement of Mendelson’s Songs Without Words, setting texts by the composer that range from nostalgic to comic.
We will end with the winter movement of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Folk Songs of the Four Seasons, including its serene finale, The Sussex Mummer’s Carol, as we conclude the concert.

Join Ancora, Sonoro Women’s Choir, and Clinician-in-Residence Cate Frazier-Neely for our second Women in Song Festival!
This will be a gathering of adult treble voices for a day of workshops, fun sings, and "not ready for performance" performances. The day is designed for adult treble choirs and feminine-identifying singers singing alto and soprano from choirs of all kinds. Registration can be made as a choir or as an individual, and there is a donation requested to help offset the cost of the event.

Ancora celebrates the work of women composers from the Pacific Northwest as we feature works of Karen P. Thomas, Jessica French, Laurie de Leonne, Joan Szymko, and Giselle Wyers.
Thomas’ The Singers Path sets the words of Sara Teasdale and explores the life experiences of singers. The choir will also complete the cycle Fire in the Garden: A Climate Change Trilogy by Giselle Wyers, having recently sung the third movement, Prayer for the Earth, at our June 2026 concert. Also on this concert are two works by Jessica French that may be familiar to Seattle choral audiences: O Star of Strength, written for the Seattle Girls Chorus, and Full Many a Glorious Morning, commissioned by Seattle Pro Musica and conducted by none other than featured composer Karen P. Thomas.
The concert also includes a setting of the Emily Dickinson poem Heart by Laurie de Leonne, a Bainbridge Island composer and conductor of the Seattle Metropolitan Women’s Chorus. The concert will conclude with a number of works by Portland-based composer Joan Szymko, including a work new to the choir called Invincible, and will conclude the concert with her much beloved work (by audiences and choirs) The Peace of Wild Things.
